About Michelle
Michelle started grooming when she was 15 years old for a show kennel in
California. In 1998, she opened Best Friends Grooming Salon in Fayetteville,
North Carolina. It is a full service grooming salon with both retail sales and a self
service bathing facility. In 2003 she began offering spa treatments and
aromatherapy to her clients at Best Friends. Then in 2005, she began lecturing at
nationwide industry grooming conventions, helping groomers to step into the spa
concepts with their own salons. She is still a frequent speaker at industry events
and is also the spokesman for Show Season Animal Products located in Tucker
Georgia.
In 2007, Michelle turned the operations of the Fayetteville store over to her
daughter Amber Parker and moved to The Woodlands, TX. She married Mark
Welch in 2008 and as a Christmas gift that year, he gave her the current location
of Pink Poodle Spa. Together with friends, they have created Michelle's dream
grooming salon. Mark is a retired Army pilot now working for PHI flying
helicopters to offshore rigs. You will often find him working with Michelle in the
salon. They travel to industry trade shows, always looking for new and better
ways to improve the grooming experience of their clients.
They have 10 children and 4 grandchildren in their combined family. Adam (33),
Alyssa (30), Eric (26), Amber (29), Donny (28), Barbara (22), Lee (20 and serving
a mission in Guatemala, Samantha (19), John (18), and Charlotte (katie) (17).
During the summer you will find their grandchildren working with them at the salon.
They also have 7 pets, including a pink poodle and a bunny named foo foo.
